I did it!

I did it! I posted something for every day in 2009. Maybe the post did not hit on the exact date, but every date was covered. And, there is still so much to get rid of!!! I'll finish up the taken/flop in the next day or so. But, I am tired. And, in 11 minutes it will be 2010! That's exciting.

PS - thanks to Dave for helping me find things when I couldn't or was too tired or not in the mood. He definitely helped me stay on track!

Day 367 - Hannah Montana Guitar

Today I am offering a Hannah Montana plastic guitar. It plays a few songs - and has volume control!!! But, it is so annoying!!! Can't have it here!!

Day 366 - Plastic Tow Truck

Today I am offering a good size plastic car - a little boys dream. White - I think it is a tow truck. This was in a big bag of toys given to me by a friend. My girls have no interest. My boy is too little!

Well, obviously somewhere along the line I messed up my numbering of days! Oh well, I'll go by the date... 3 more days!!

Today I am offering a green canvas bag with a red strap. Has holly, red berries and a pretty bird sewn in it. Maybe 18 inches wide and 12 inches long. Brand new. I got it from a grab bag at this Christmas. Nice, just not my style and not something I need.

Today I am offering a Ronco Rotiseree. We bought it from an infomercial - and used it several times. But, we've not used it in the 28 months we've lived here - and that's long enough. I hope my husband is not mad I am getting rid of this!!!

Today I am offering 2 toddler winter hats - one is pink and the other is purple. Brand new - with tags. Why would I offer these - because they got a total of 8 hats for Christmas!! And, that's way too many.

Today I am getting rid of a lot of size 12 month girls clothes. My little boy probably does not want to be dressed in pink princess stuff, so they need to go! But, I am sure some little girl will love it!!

Christmas gifts out the door... Yep, we got 2 suckers with cute little Tinkerbell dolls. My girls have teeth issues and sugary suckers are the last thing they need! I am sure some other kids would love them!

Today I am hoping to get rid of 2 wild and crazy disco coasters. They hold your drink and the perimeter of the circle lights up! Of course, they are from Dave & Busters!! Let's hope they leave my house really fast!

Today I am offering 2 nice stockings. We used them up until this year when I got all new stockings - and now just need to have them embroidered with our names! I hope these go!!

Day 344 - Infant Cotton Wrap Tops

Today I am offering about 6 infant cotton wrap tops. They are all white and have fold backs to keep fingernails off the face. Great for layering and keeping a little baby warm. Would fit a newborn to maybe 12 or so pound baby.

Today I am offering an old tv. This was the first big tv I bought - I thought 20 inches was big!! I've had it since college - which is a pretty long time!! The color is a bit off. We used some Amex points for a new flat screen TV - it is the only nice flat tv in the house!! I hope this old one goes!!

Today I am offering a hardcover book in excellent condition - Business at the Speed of Thought by Bill Gates. Not sure where we got this - probably though work or something. I never read it - maybe Dave did???

Today I am offering a small wooden kids table. It nicely sits 2-4 kids. Could use a little TLC to make it a bit sturdier.

This is the table I grew up playing with, so there is some sentimental value. But, my MIL got us a great table last Christmas and we don't need 2. This has been in the nursery forever, but soon we'll need the nursery to be a nursery rather than a storage room. So, it is on the outs!

Today I am freecycling a super cute silver beaded purse. It is completely not practical - super tiny, but just beautiful - with all kinds of beading and sparkles.

The funny thing is that as I was freecycling with my husband I asked him to look in his nightstand for something to get rid of - and lo and behold he found this. So, maybe it is his book!

Today's items were given by my 3 year old girls. E&E are giving up a bag of stuffed animals - a dog, a cat, a few rabbits, and a few others. At breakfast we talked about what we could give away and they were more than happy to part with these items. Sweet.

And - we're 1/2 way through the year. I think this might be my first resolution ever that I've kept going this long! Do you think I can make it through the rest of the year - and have a baby! Yikes.

Today I am freecycling a new 8 ounce tube of Eucerin lotion. I got it for the girls and never used it. I've never been one of those moms that lather the baby up with lotions and potions. I think I was feeling guilty of never using them so I bought it. And, it sat and sat. Well, it needs to get up and walk out of here!

My old kids want to freecycle....

About a week ago there was a big box in the house from a weed whacker we just bought. Apparently the box bothered Ev (or maybe got in her way) and she said she was going to freecycle it and walked it to our front porch - where I leave all the drop off items!

Then, a few days ago Erin decided big girls use green sippie cups in bed. She said her purple one was for babies and it should be freecycled.

Finally, yesterday Erin found 3 sets of bunny ears (the kind you wear at Easter). She said we only need 2 - for her and Evelyn. She said she was going to freecycle the third pair and dropped it in the laundry basket I collect all of my items in.

This is hysterical to me and Dave!! Apparently even though they are not yet 3 years old, they understand a lot more than we think they do!

1/2 cup prepared honey mustard (recommended: Honey Cup brand)

1/2 teaspoon allspice, eyeball it

1/2 teaspoon curry powder, eyeball it

4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breast

4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

Vegetable oil, for drizzling

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

▪ Preheat grill pan or griddle over medium high heat.

▪ Pour 2 tablespoons vegetable oil into a small saucepan over moderate heat. Add red onions and sauté 3 to 5 minutes. Add vinegar and reduce by half, 1 to 2 minutes. Add brown sugar and cook 1 minute to incorporate. Whisk in broth and honey mustard, allspice and curry. Bring sauce to a bubble and reduce heat to lowest setting.

▪ Coat chicken with a drizzle of oil and salt and pepper, to your taste. Place chicken on hot grill and cook 4 or 5 minutes, then turn. Baste chicken liberally with sauce and cook another 5 minutes. Turn once again and baste. Cook 2 or 3 minutes more to cook through and transfer chicken to a platter and serve.

Today I am offering a Rachael Ray 30 Minute cookbook. I've leafed through it a few times, but have a duplicate copy, so just don't need it. I am sure this will be snapped up super quick!!

Orange Freeze Recipe

2 pints orange sherbet

1 lime, for garnish (optional)

1 pint vanilla ice cream
1 liter carbonated lemon-lime beverage or lemon lime seltzer water

For each freeze, in a mixer mix 3 scoops orange sherbet & 1 scoop vanilla ice cream.

Add 1/4 liter lemon lime soda or lemon lime seltzer & 4 ice cubes to the mixer.

Set mixer top in place & mix on high setting until frothy & smooth.

Pour into fountain or tall glass & garnish glass rim with a round of lime & a straw.

Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Day 152 - Motorcycle Helmet

Today I am offering a big yellow motorcycle helmet. It is in great condition - but we no longer have a motorcycle. Well, we do, but it is at my father-in-laws house and we never use it. So, the helmet sits in its bag and is sad and lonely - just wanting to save a life.

Two houses back, we lived in Evanston. Dave had a scooter that he enjoyed riding to work and wore a basic helmet. Well, it got stolen - the day we brought it home. So, we got a replacement that lasted a while - maybe a year??? Then, it got stolen. Hint - if you live in Evanston, don't have a scooter! We wised up and did not get another one.

We moved to Arlington Heights and had the dumb idea of getting a motorcycle. It was more my idea than his and it just never felt right and we did not use it much. So, it made its way to my father-in-laws and he enjoys taking it on weekend trips. He has the other helmet - not that he wears it! We're going to get it back and freecycle that one too...

We have not had the motorcycle about 2 years - thus the helmet has not been used in at least that long - but probably more like 3 years. Despite it not being used, this was a tough one for Dave to part with. Not that he will miss it, but because it was expensive for us at the time - and it admits he will probably not ride the motorcycle again. But, some day I think he'll get another scooter - so we won't get rid of that helmet!

Day 151 - Chicago Skyline Photo - GONE!

This one had a lot of people interested. I am glad to have it off to a new home where it will find some life!

A little surprised, but it is gone! And, the kind woman who picked up left necklaces for the girls - they were so happy!

Today I am offering a nice 8x10 gold frame with a 2 inch or so blue matte and a nice Chicago skyline photo. I got this when I worked in the city. I always liked it because it was a day shot, not a night shot where the whole city is lit up. But, we have not had it hung for some time, so I think it needs to find a new home. I suppose even if they don't like the photo, they can use if for the matte and/or frame.

Day 150 - Jewlery Box Handmade in India

Today I am offering a small handmade jewelry box. Dave got it when he went to India several years ago. It is maybe 3 inches and the shape is an hexagon. We've never really put it to use since he brought it home from India. And, tonight as I am typing we are in our bedroom and just looking around for items to get rid of and this is what we saw...

Day 149 - Assorted Magazines - FLOP!

Oh man, nobody wants the magazines. I'll have to bring them to the jail so people can enjoy them. This is the second time I've tried to get rid of magazines - apparently they just don't go well.

Day 148 - 2 Babysitter Notepads- FLOP!

I am a little surprised these notepads did not go. But I forgot to mention in my e-mail that they are brand new and that might not have helped. I'll have to try again sometime soon.

Day 149 - Assorted Magazines

Today I am offering about 20 assorted magazines. They'd be good to read or for craft projects. I hope they go, otherwise I'll send them to a women's jail.

Day 148 - 2 Babysitter Notepads

Today I am offering 2 magnetic babysitter notepads. They go on the fridge so your babysitter knows pertinent information. They are both brand new. They were a kind gift when the girls were born, but we just never used them. My mom and Dave's mom and some of his family members were our primary sitters and they knew the drill, so they were not needed. But, I think they'd come in handy for someone. We'll see!
