Kool Aid Play Doh

Why make play doh when you can buy it?  Not sure.  But, the girls preschool teacher asked me to make it and here is the recipe.  I've actually made it twice and it was much easier and less sticky the second time.  So, I'll make sure to give you those tips...

2 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup salt
2 packages dry unsweetened Kool-Aid
2 cups boiling water
3 tablespoons oil

Mix the dry ingredients (minus kool-aid) together in a large bowl. 

Mix hot water and kool-aid together in a measuring cup.  Pour over the dry ingredients. 

Add oil.

Stir the mixture until it forms a ball (this may take a while - keep stirring). As the mixture cools, it will become less sticky. After the mixture has cooled, take it out of the bowl and knead it until it is smooth.  


I used a silicone spatula and the whole mixing process was simple and clean.


Nancy's Take:  Easy to make - probably cheaper than store-bought.

Baby bottle brushes

And, today I posted 2 baby bottle brushes. For some reason, these did not work ergonomically for me. So, they need a new home!

Today I am offering a Hannah Montana plastic guitar. It plays a few songs - and has volume control!!! But, it is so annoying!!! Can't have it here!!

Day 366 - Plastic Tow Truck

Today I am offering a good size plastic car - a little boys dream. White - I think it is a tow truck. This was in a big bag of toys given to me by a friend. My girls have no interest. My boy is too little!

Day 353 - Crib Sheets

Today I am offering all kinds of girly crib sheets! No need for them in my house!! I hope they go, or they'll be donated - which is not a bad alternative.

Day 352 - Curious George DVD

Today I am offering a brand new Curious George DVD. We already have 2 copies of this show - the same person gave us all 3 copies!! We're keeping one, giving one to my mom and trying to get rid of the other!

Day 349 -2 Toddler Winter Hats

Today I am offering 2 toddler winter hats - one is pink and the other is purple. Brand new - with tags. Why would I offer these - because they got a total of 8 hats for Christmas!! And, that's way too many.

Day 344 - Infant Cotton Wrap Tops

Today I am offering about 6 infant cotton wrap tops. They are all white and have fold backs to keep fingernails off the face. Great for layering and keeping a little baby warm. Would fit a newborn to maybe 12 or so pound baby.

Day 343 - Girls Nighties

Today I am offering sleep dresses for infant girls. I've got about 6 or so - they are pink and girly. I used these all the time for my twin girls. But, we're trying to keep Cooper out of pink - which is not easy to do!

Day 342 - 0-3 Month Onesies

And, he's too long for size 0-3 month onesies!!! He's not even 5 weeks old. Yikes.

Day 341 - Newborn Onesies

Well, my big boy is way too big for newborn onesies!! And, I don't think I'll need them in the future, so they are off to a new home.

Day 340 - Girls Tights

Today I am offering several pairs of girls tights. They are all too short for my girls, so I hope someone else can get some good use from them.

Today I am freecycling a bag of dolls, doll carriers, purses and other girly items. These were given to me from a friend who was getting rid of her older daughters toys and we've pretty much got everything already or just don't need them!!

Not a surprise these flopped! I think I'll cut them into rags and use them for cleaning! God knows I've got lots of that to take care of.

Day 327 - Diper Bag

Today I am offering a brand new diaper bag - messenger style. I got it from the hospital and it is super nice. But, the whole messenger style does not work for me. And, I already have plenty of diaper bags from my earlier kids. So, I am hoping to pass this along to another family that might put it to use!!

Today I am offering a crib mattress. Funny story - we are having our basement redone. So is our neighbor. She is trying to pawn off all her stuff on to us! So, I am freecycling it. Looks to be in good condition!!
