My old kids want to freecycle....

About a week ago there was a big box in the house from a weed whacker we just bought. Apparently the box bothered Ev (or maybe got in her way) and she said she was going to freecycle it and walked it to our front porch - where I leave all the drop off items!

Then, a few days ago Erin decided big girls use green sippie cups in bed. She said her purple one was for babies and it should be freecycled.

Finally, yesterday Erin found 3 sets of bunny ears (the kind you wear at Easter). She said we only need 2 - for her and Evelyn. She said she was going to freecycle the third pair and dropped it in the laundry basket I collect all of my items in.

This is hysterical to me and Dave!! Apparently even though they are not yet 3 years old, they understand a lot more than we think they do!

So generous!!!

I was so lucky to get home and have a gift from one of my "takers". She picked up a book on CD and left me a donation toward my Breast Cancer Walk! I was stunned at her generosity!! I am $10 closer to my goal! THANKS!!!

Day 75 - Kids Chair - GONE!

I am so happy the chair is gone! And the taker was as kind as can be. He left me a dark chocolate bar in my mailbox and sent me a really nice thankful e-mail. This is the first gift I've received for giving something on Freecycle. It really was kind of him to go that extra step.

Super Nice E-Mail...

I got the nicest e-mail on Saturday...

Hi Nancy,
I'm not interested in the drawer pulls, but wanted to tell you how enjoyable your blog is.
Also wanted to tell you that after reading the Marley & Me book, it went to my sister, who is a high school reading teacher, to use in the lending library she has established for the kids.
The baby boy sweater I gave to a friend whose sister died from cancer a year ago. That sister's daughter had a baby a couple of months ago. She is an unwed, unmarried mom, trying to get things together without much $, and my friend tries very hard to help her niece out. Baby Lucas wore the sweater last weekend and (I am told) looked quite cute!
Just thought you would appreciate knowing how these items were ultimately enjoyed and put to good use.

Continued Happy Freecycling!

Bowling Set Update

A few weeks ago I gave away a plastic bowling set to a woman who runs an after school program. She thought her kids would enjoy it.

Well, I've been out of town and just returned home to a TON of mail!!! In it I got a big shocker!!

I got a nice postcard from the Children of Jerusalem Lutheran School. The teacher and children wanted to formally thank me!! That's a first that I've received an actual item in the mail to thank me! She must be a really good teacher - teaching not only book smarts, but the golden rule and strong social skills.

So many times I barely get a thank you - it really made my day to get a piece of mail thanking me.

Giving..

You know - the funny thing about giving is that once you start ... you really just want to give more and more. I am finding that I post items pretty early in the day and get responses relatively quickly and then it is all over in a matter of hours. Then, I have to wait until the next day to post again - so I can attain my goal of posting every day this year. There is a bit of a let-down when that days post is complete.

I guess that's the beauty of generosity - it makes you feel good and you wan to do it more and more.

Do you have any items you can part with? I am sure they'd make another persons day!!!
