Day 89 - Dora Jacket

Today I am offering a cute girls jacket. It is pink with flowers... and Dora! That's right - she is in my house for another night. I got this from a friend at my twins club. She did not need it any longer and I did not have the heart to say no. My girls have not even worn it - it is in great condition! Let's hope it goes!

Monday, March 30, 2009

Day 88 - Table Toppers - GONE!

I am happy to report there is even less Dora in my house!! The table toppers are gone. I was surprised to only have one person interested. But, one is all it takes!

Day 88 - Table Toppers

Today I am offering Table Toppers. These are plastic sheets you put on a public table so your child is not eating off a gross table or touching too many yucky germs. These are a great invention and we used them a lot when the kids were small. Then they figured out how to remove them and the gig was up!

The only glitch is that they have Dora on them!

Day 87 - Blank Diary - GONE!

One of my "regulars" is taking this off my hands!! Yippie.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Day 87 - Blank Diary

Today I am offering a nice blank diary. I don't know where this is from - neither Dave or I keep a diary. So, it won't get any use in this house. But, I think it would also make a nice sign-in book for a wedding. Hopefully someone will put it to use!

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Day 86 - Cast Iron Egg Pan - GONE!

Again, that did not take long. I am happy to report the pan has been promised to a family that promises they love eggs!

Day 86 - Cast Iron Egg Pan

I bought 3 of these a few years ago - they were on a great sale. I had visions of giving them off gifts - and they have sat in my basement. Well, here is one that is available for someone to take!!

Today I am offering a cast iron egg pan.

Please take it!

Friday, March 27, 2009

Day 85 - DynoBytes - GONE!

Well, that did not take long! Hooray...

Day 85 - DynoBytes

I am so happy my mother-in-law does not read this blog - I doubt she knows what a blog is.

Anyway, today I am offering a recent gift she gave us. A sandwich cutter that removes crust and shapes the sandwich like a dinosaur. Yeah - neat concept but I'm just never going to use it!! Hopefully someone will!

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Day 84 - Green Tea Kit - GONE!

Not surprised, this was snapped up super fast!! Yeah!!

Day 84 - Green Tea Kit

I have NO idea where this came from. Today I am offering a Green Tea Kit - it has oils, lotion, shower gel and cologne. It is brand new, so I 'd think it will go - and be a great item to re-gift to someone who might enjoy a green tea scent.

Day 83 - Paper Towel Holder - GONE!

I am a little surprised, but it has been promised! I sure hope she picks it up!!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Day 83 - Paper Towel Holder

In my efforts to be "green", I no longer use any paper towels. Therefore, I have a nice paper towel holder that is sitting in my basement - not very green!

The holder is similar to this photo...

Okay - some of your might wonder how someone can function without any paper towels. Well, it really is no big deal. I've got a zillion washcloth type rags and just use those. Thankfully my dog does not make messes in the house - or I'd have to keep a stash just in case.

Day 82 - Paper & Envelopes - GONE!

Not a surprise, but the paper and envelopes are gone! A woman that is looking for a teaching position will be using them - hopefully she'll have great success in her job hunt!!!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Day 82 - Paper & Envelopes

Today I am offering professional resume stock paper and envelopes. My friend gave this to me this morning, as she did not need it. I also did not need it and she said to freecycle it! I think it will go - it is really nice paper and matching envelopes.

Day 81 - Scanner - GONE!

My confidence is slowly getting stronger. We'll see how today goes...

Monday, March 23, 2009

Day 81 - Scanner

All I can say is that today I am offering a Cannon scanner - and it better go!!

Okay - I'll try to be a bit more positive. This scanner is a few years old and now that our printer is also a scanner we just don't need it anymore.

Now it better hit the road!

Day 81 - 10 cabinet locks - FLOP!

Okay - what's going on!!! Nobody wants any of my stuff and I am getting a bit sensitive about it! We're going to need to start digging deep....

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Day 81 - 10 cabinet locks

Today I am freecycling 10 baby-proofing cabinet locks. I told Dave to look in the pile and get something that would go. He initially brought me a drink master little digital thingy that tells you want ingredients go in a drink. I sent him back down and he brought up these locks. This must mean our supply is diminishing. Looks like I need to sort and purge - again!

Day 80 - Slice of Life Happy Go Lucky bath/shower gel and body cream - FLOP!

Apparently nobody else showers with lovely scents either. Another flop. I am feeling unneeded and unwanted.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Day 80 - Slice of Life Happy Go Lucky bath/shower gel and body cream

Today I am offering Slice of Life Happy Go Lucky bath/shower gel and body cream. I barely have time to shower. I definitely don't have time to lather up with nice smelling lotions or creams. So, these bottles are both nearly full and taking up space.

Not sure if this will be a hit????

Day 79 - Franklin Cover Classic Hole Punch - FLOP!

Nobody uses Franklin planners anymore. At least, nobody wants my hole puncher.

:-(

Friday, March 20, 2009

Day 79 - Franklin Cover Classic Hole Punch

Today I am offering a Franklin Covey Classic hole punch. I no longer use a Franklin Planner - but used to get a lot of value from it. In fact, I still have my nice brown leather binder - maybe I'll freecycle that another day. But, this is the hole puncher for that size planner and it comes in handy if you use it often. Does anyone still use a Franklin Planner???

Day 78 - Handle with Care - GONE!

I am not surprised to say this audio book is gone!! I am still listening to it and can't stop!! It is good - I just want to know what will happen. I am on the 13th of 15 CDs - so almost done. But, it is on my computer, so I'll have it forever just in case I want to listen again.

Anyhoo... I think the reciever will enjoy it. I asked that she freecycle it after she listens to it - that way all the others who wanted it would have another chance of hearing it.

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Day 78 - Handle with Care

Today I am offering the audiobook Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult. This is a 15 CD collection - which takes over 18 hours to listen to. So, you've got to really enjoying listening to stories to get through it. But, I really like listening to books - and can get through them faster than reading. This is a very new book, so I think it will go quickly!!

Day 77 - Picture Frame

I am happy to report that the large gold picture frame is both promised and taken!! So nice to have another item removed from the house!!!

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

On a whole different subject

As you might know ... I am walking in the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. If you'd like to make a tax-deductible donation I'd greatly appreciate it! You can do so on the top right of my blog.

thanks for the help!!

Day 77 - Picture Frame

Today I am offering a large 11x14 or 8x11 with matte gold frame. We got this frame complete with a very nice photo of Dave's grandparents a few years ago. I decided to change out the frame for one that better suits our decor - and now we have a frame we no longer need. It is in great shape - I hope someone will enjoy it!

Day 76 - PMBOK CD

I am going to mail a nice guy this CD. I hope it comes in handy for him. He is not really right in our area, so I see no reason he should drive out to get it.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Day 76 - PMBOK CD

It has been a long time since i worked in corporate America, but I used to be a very good project manager. I managed projects large and small and really enjoyed the work.

Today I am offering the CD: A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge.

But, those skills seem to be a thing of the past - and I hope this CD can help someone else with their skills.

Day 75 - Kids Chair - GONE!

I am so happy the chair is gone! And the taker was as kind as can be. He left me a dark chocolate bar in my mailbox and sent me a really nice thankful e-mail. This is the first gift I've received for giving something on Freecycle. It really was kind of him to go that extra step.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Day 75 - Kids Chair

Today I am offering a children's chair. This was a hand-me-down from my cousin and it has sat in my garage for way too long!! Hopefully this will be one more item out of the garage!!!!

It has a picture of a girl - probably can be painted over and made into a whole new chair for someone crafty - not me!!

It is heavier than you'd think!!

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Day 74 - Nalgene Bottles - GONE!

I am a little surprised I only had a few people want them. But, I think that is partly because it is Sunday - and things are always slow on Sunday and it is BEAUTIFUL out!!!! Why would you be sitting at a computer when you can be outside????

The good news is that they are gone!

Day 74 - Nalgene Bottles

Today I am offering 2 thirty-two ounce Nalgene bottles. I bought these at REI about a year ago in the height of all the plastic craziness. Problem is - I bought the clean ones which are not supposed to be the best and I find them difficult to clean. So, they take up a lot of space in my cupboard and they need to go!

Day 73 - Men's Shoes - GONE!

Yippie - the shoes have walked away....

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Day 73 - Men's Shoes

Today I am offering a paid of men's shoes - my husband's shoes. Therefore, I must turn to Dave to finish the post.

A handful of years ago, Nancy was very nice and bought be a pair of shoes. I appreciated the idea but I never really liked them. I feel that shoes are such a personal item I don't think buying shoes for someone else is a good idea (unless you are buying shoes for a small kid).

I've resisted getting rid of them because I didn't want to hurt Nancy's feeling but I didn't want to wear them so they've been sitting in my closet for years.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with these shoes and I think they've only been worn twice at the most. It will be interesting to see if anybody wants to take a pair of shoes but I guarantee they are "like new" and in great condition. I'm glad to have them out of the closet and glad to have cleared the air with my wife. Phew... I feel better now. :)

Nancy's response: Whatever.

Day 72 - Shower Radio - GONE!

I am happy to say this radio is gone. Dave is not happy it is gone. I got in a little trouble getting rid of this item. Oops.

Friday, March 13, 2009

Day 72 - Shower Radio

Today I am offering a Sony shower radio. We used to listen to it when we lived in Evanston - Dave especially liked it. Moved to Arlington Heights and we could never get any stations. In Northfield we get very few stations as well. And, it has to be so loud because of the water that it is just not something we want to keep.

Day 71 - Rug - GONE!

Yippie - the rug is gone!!!

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Day 71 - Rug

Today I am offering a small rug - 2x3 in shades of navy and khaki. In our old townhouse we had a very small kitchen and this fit right in and worked very well for us. Since we moved it has been in the famous garage. Out it goes... off to another home I hope!

Day 70 - Cookbook: Reader's Digest Great Recipes for Good Health - GONE!

Gone - but still sitting on my porch!

Maybe this one won't be so bad ... the book must have some good ones, right???

Buttermilk Salad Dressing Mix

2 1/4 cups buttermilk powder

3/4 cup freeze-dried chives

1/4 cup dill weed

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons dry mustard

Place all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. transfer to a 1 quart jar, cover tightly, and store in the refrigerator. Makes about 3 2/3 cups.

In a small bowl, whisk together 5 tablespoons of the Buttermilk Salad dressing mix, 1/2 cup warm water, 2 tablespoons cider vinegar and 1 tablespoons sour cream. Let stand at room temperature at least 30 minutes before using, then whisk again for a few seconds. Makes about 1 cup

Day 70 - Cookbook: Reader's Digest Great Recipes for Good Health

Today I am offering the Reader's Digest Great Recipe Cookbook. This was a wedding shower gift and I have never opened it! It just does not appeal to me. But, hopefully someone will enjoy it.

This is painful...

1/3 cup skim milk

1/2 small banana, peeled and sliced

Orange Milk Shake

Prepared as directed except reduce the ice cubes to 3 and substitute 1/2 cup orange juice for the banana.

Chocolate Milk Shake

Prepare as directed except substitute 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (not a mix) for the banana and increase the vanilla extract to 1/2 teaspoon

Day 69 - Toshiba Laptop - GONE!

Oh my gosh. I had about 35 responses for this laptop!

Ultimately I chose the person based on their ability to fix the computer. Many had not really read my post and said they wanted it for their kid or mom - I think they read through the fact it is not in working condition. So, one woman who wanted the laptop has a husband that fixes computers. They will fix it and then give it to their child to use.

I never expected such a big response!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Day 69 - Toshiba Laptop

Today I am offering an old Toshiba Tecra laptop. I got this laptop a million years ago and Dave's dad has been using it for years and we no longer need it. I am not sure if it works, but thinks someone who knows their way around formatting a computer can get it up - or at least use it for parts.

We'll see!!!

Monday, March 9, 2009

Day 68 - Shoe Rack - GONE!

This is one item I am a bit surprised went! But, I could not be happier. I am sure this will come in use for the woman who is taking it. I'm just happy to continue to have my garage get emptier and emptier!!!

I wonder if I can really keep this up for another 297 days - yikes.

Day 68 - Shoe Rack

Today I am offering a metal shoe rack that holds 6 pairs of shoes. I don't know where this came from, but it has been sitting in my garage for over a year and needs to go!!!

Seriously - where could this even be from???

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Day 67 - Fiesta Decorations - GONE!

I am a bit surprised, but these decorations went super quick!!! And, I have backup takers if I have a no-show!!

Have a great week!!!

Super Nice E-Mail...

I got the nicest e-mail on Saturday...

Hi Nancy,
I'm not interested in the drawer pulls, but wanted to tell you how enjoyable your blog is.
Also wanted to tell you that after reading the Marley & Me book, it went to my sister, who is a high school reading teacher, to use in the lending library she has established for the kids.
The baby boy sweater I gave to a friend whose sister died from cancer a year ago. That sister's daughter had a baby a couple of months ago. She is an unwed, unmarried mom, trying to get things together without much $, and my friend tries very hard to help her niece out. Baby Lucas wore the sweater last weekend and (I am told) looked quite cute!
Just thought you would appreciate knowing how these items were ultimately enjoyed and put to good use.

Continued Happy Freecycling!

Day 67 - Fiesta Decorations

Yesterday I hosted a Guacamole party for my husband. Everyone that came made a recipe of guacamole and we all got to try them out. It was a lot of fun!! Fun to taste all the different recipes.

My husband bought a bunch of Fiesta Decorations - and that is todays offer. The party is over and the decorations are down and I need someone to take them off my hands!!

Day 66 - Drawer Pulls - FLOP!

I am not surprised, but these did not go. Nobody needs 3.5 inch pulls!! I'll keep them a while and maybe re-post over the summer.

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Day 66 - Drawer Pulls

The furniture set we use for my daughters room is from my husbands family. It is about 20 years old. We wanted to update the hardware to make it a little more our style. What we did not realize is that finding new hardware would be a BIG challenge. The drawer pulls have a hole-to-hole distance of 3.5 inches - which is not at all standard! I had to do a lot of web hunting to find something that could even fit - and fitting our style was a whole different challenge - as was finding anything affordable! Just when I almost gave up I found good pulls that were super cheap! They don't look fabulous, but work well and the girls can open and close the drawers with ease - which is what really matters!

Day 65 - Kids Desk & Chair - GONE!

This is a great item to have gone - because it was HUGE!!!! My garage is looking so good!!!

And, the set went to a woman with 7 kids! She is 32!! I can't imagine! I hope this helps her find fun ideas to keep them all busy!

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Day 65 - Kids Desk & Chair

My neighbor was kind enough to give me a big plastic kids desk and chair. The desk would be great for drawing and doing craft projects. This photo is not exactly what I am offering - it is the newer model - the colors are not the same, but the concept is. It is in used condition - but still has a lot of life in it.

It has been in my garage forever - and I need the space. My girls already have a little wooden craft table that works just fine for us. But, I think this will go fast. We'll see..............

Day 64 - Kids Plastic Table - GONE!

Another success. I had several responses and have gathered back my confidence that stuff I no longer need is desired by others. What a relief...

Day 64 - Kids Plastic Table

Oh boy - I've been cleaning the garage - watch out!!!

Today I am offering a small plastic kids table - sits 2-4. This will be a hit - I think I'll get 7 responses. Kids stuff always seems to go quickly.

We'll see!!

Day 63 - Valances & Rods - GONE!

Hooray, I got a taker. One one though... I am used to more responses! But, the important thing is they are gone!!

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Day 63 - Valances & Rods

Okay- I sure hope this goes. I am beginning to question my offerings!!

Today I am offering 4 valances and 2 rods to hang them. The valances were in my old bedroom when I was young - and they have been hanging since then. They were in my girls bedroom until I just recently purchased new blinds and we took them down. A little too girly for me.

But, they are in good condition and would be perfect for a young girl or someone looking for a more Victorian window valance.

We'll see - keep your fingers crossed for me!

Day 62 - Parents Magazine - FLOP!

Oh boy - another flop. That's two in a row! I am starting to think all my stuff is junk! What to do!!!! I better find something really good for Day 63. I am getting nervous..........

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Day 62 - Parents Magazine

My dad worked in the magazine business. I grew up with subscriptions to Highlights and as I grew up Teen, Seventeen and all kinds of magazines. To this day I really enjoy reading magazines and am a sucker in buying them. But, once I read them there are very few I keep - most I pass on to recycle or even send to local hospitals/doctors offices. Today, I am offering 6 old Parents Magazines. I am lucky enough to have the subscription and am sure someone else will be happy to get older copies of this great magazine!

Day 61 - Book -True Believer by Nicholas Sparks - FLOP!

Looks like the readers near me don't read Nicholas Sparks type fiction! It was a flop. Maybe it would do better during the summer months - I'll give it another try then. Boo Hoo...

Monday, March 2, 2009

Day 61 - Book -True Believer by Nicholas Sparks

Today I am offering: a book -True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. I don't really remember this book. I probably bought it at an airport when I had a flight or something. I've read many of his books - they are very easy reads - pretty mindless fiction. I think there is a place for that kind of book. But, they are definitely not books you read more than once. And, the time has come to pass it forward........

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Day 60 - Wireless Adapter - GONE!

Well, not as much interest as I would have thought, but I did get a few responses and am happy to report it will be leaving my desk on it's way to a new computer!

Hooray!

Day 60 - Wireless Adapter

Today I offered a Linxsys Wireless Adapter. We used this prior to our move and it was not compatible with AT&T. So, it has been sitting on our desk for far too long! But, these are pretty valuable and I think I'll get some good responses!! We'll see............

Day 59 - Book - Your Baby's First Year - GONE!

Ta da!! Another success. I am sure this book will answer lots of questions for a new set of parents!!
